A Journey Through the Psalms
A series of weekly written meditations, beginning in Lent.
The Psalms have always held a central place in the life and worship of the church. As part of their daily practice, many ancient monastic communities would cycle through the entire Psalter in the course of a single week. Some communities still do. That is 150 Psalms chanted over the course of seven days.
What we are proposing is more modest, and that is meditating on a single Psalm a week. If you have an existing practice, this might perhaps complement it. If you do not, this might be a start.
Beginning at the start of Lent, meditations will be sent out by email each Wednesday. They will include the text of the Psalm, and a reflection. We’ll continue it beyond the Easter Season, as long as we are able, and as long as there is interest. Online Daily Prayer
As a regular practice, and additional way of staying connected during this time, our pastoral team will be recording and uploading prayers for each weekday. You can watch, listen and pray along at any time by clicking on the link posted below.
We will be using morning prayers from Take Our Moments and Our Days: An Anabaptist Prayer Book (Volume 2: Advent Through Pentecost). You can read and pray along by downloading the free app, available for both Apple and Android phones. You can also just watch and listen.
At a time when time seems so un-ordinary, this is a simple and ordinary daily rhythm to help ground and focus us.
